UNITY SPACE AiR | HK x AUS
Unity Space collaborates with the Catapult Choreographic Hub and Artistic Director Cadi McCarthy to invite and bring together one artist based and working in Hong Kong and one artist based and working in Australia.

Working with the theme of IDENTITY this residency exchange seeks to bring together artists from different backgrounds (artistic and cultural) to collaborate, exchange and create a new production under the mentorship of Vangelis Legakis.

During 5 weeks (3 weeks HK period + 2 weeks AUS period), two dance artists KT Heikayau (HK) and Skip Willcox (AUS) will be researching and creating a new work focusing on the topic of “IDENTITY”.

This presentation is a work in progress that will continue next year 2021 at Catapult Choreographic Hub: Newcastle, AUS, then thereafter the final production will be brought back to HK to be presented at the 5th HK International Choreography Festival (JUNE 2021).

BIOGRAPHY OF HK ARTIST
KT YAU KA HEI
In 2018, she received the Emerging Choreographer award at the 20th Hong Kong Dance Awards, while her latest work: Unmixed, in ‘New Force in Motion’ Series, received Outstanding Small Venue Production Award.
Hong Kong-based freelance artist, Yau graduated with a Bachelor’ s degree of Fine Art (honours) in Contemporary Dance from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2013. From 2013 to 2014 she was a dancer of Y-spac Dance Company. In 2016, she furthered her dance studies in Israel.
As a dancer, she has collaborated with a variety of renowned Hong Kong local organisations and arts festivals and renowned organizations: I-Dance Festival, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Hong Kong Dance Company, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Unlock Dancing Plaza, Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, Singapore Arts Fission Dance Company, Andrea Pena and Artist, etc.
