Dance from England, Dance4, and Unity Space
Unity Space is excited to invite the Dance from England programme to collaborate on a residency exchange this Winter and next Spring for one artist based and working in Hong Kong and one artist based and working in England. Working with the theme of IDENTITY this residency exchange seeks to bring artists from different contexts together to share practice and work together with dramaturg and artist / host Vangelis Legakis.

The residency is curated by Unity Space and Dance from England, facilitated by dance artist and choreographer Vangelis Legakis. For the HK artist, expenses and a weekly honorarium for the UK residency is provided as follows:
– Return flights UK-Hong Kong and airport transfers;
– Honorarium of £600 per week;
– Per Diems of £25 per day;
– Accommodation with kitchen is provided in a shared house/facility;
– Studio space and Mentoring are covered as part of the package.
For the HK artist, expenses and a weekly honorarium for the HK residency is provided as follows:
– Honorarium of $2000 HKD per week;
– Per Diems of $1000 per week;
– Studio space and Mentoring are covered as part of the package.
The two residencies are open in terms of outcome with no requirement to create art works. However, if through the residencies there is a desire to share work created this could be presented as part of the 5th Hong Kong International Choreography Festival in June 2020 (subject to a new agreement).

To be eligible for this opportunity you must;
- have a curiosity and interest to share collaborative practice in Hong Kong/England;
- be actively seeking R&D;
- have an interest in dialogues and research in choreography and dramaturgy;
- be interested to collaborate with an artist from Hong Kong/England in dialogue with dramaturg and host Vangelis Legakis;
- be available for the dates listed above, with travel time before and after;
- be able to travel and hold a passport that is valid for 6mths after the 07 Dec 2019;
- FOR DANCE FROM ENGLAND ONLY: be a working artist 18+ who lives in England who is not regularly funded (i.e. not an NPO);
