Catapult Choreographic Hub and Unity Space

Unity Space is excited to co-organise with Catapult Choreographic Hub on a residency exchange. Two artists from HK and AUS will be working in Hong Kong and Newcastle on the theme of IDENTITY. This residency exchange seeks to bring artists together to share their practices and work together with dramaturg and artist / host Vangelis Legakis for developing a new production.

TIME LINE

Dates Residencies
March-May 2021 2-week artist residency at Catapult Choreographic Hub Newcastle, Australia
May-June 2021 4-week artist residency at Unity Space, Hong Kong

The residency is curated by Unity Space and Catapult Choreographic Hub, facilitated by dance artist and choreographer Vangelis Legakis. For the HK artist, expenses and a weekly honorarium for the AUS residency is provided as follows:

– Return flights AUS-Hong Kong and airport transfers;
– Honorarium of $500 per week;
– Per Diems of $200 per week;
– Accommodation with kitchen is provided in a shared house/facility;
– Studio space and Mentoring are covered as part of the package.

For the HK artist, expenses and a weekly honorarium for the HK residency is provided as follows:

– Honorarium of $2000 HKD per week;
– Per Diems of  $1000 HKD per week;
– Studio space and Mentoring are covered as part of the package.

Through the residencies there is a wish and incentive to share this work created as part of the 5th Hong Kong International Choreography Festival in June 2021.

To be eligible for this opportunity you must;

  • have a curiosity and interest to share collaborative practice in Hong Kong/England;
  • be actively seeking R&D;
  • have an interest in dialogues and research in choreography and dramaturgy;
  • be interested to collaborate with an artist from Hong Kong/England in dialogue with dramaturg and host Vangelis Legakis;
  • be available for the dates listed above, with travel time before and after;
  • be able to travel and hold a passport that is valid for 6mths after May 2021;
  • FOR DANCE FROM ENGLAND ONLY: be a working artist 18+ who lives in Australia who is not regularly funded (i.e. not an NPO);
