Contact Beyond Contact | Facilitators Training Course

Dance is a social and integrative practice that connects people. We believe that everybody can dance as well as everybody can facilitate a dance event. We are passionate about dance practice and moreover to endorse dance as a healing practice accessible to all. Contact Beyond Contact is a dance improvisation practice that focuses on creating an environment and holding space for transformation and healing. It is a practice that integrates profound practices and philosophies such as chi gong, yoga, healing, authentic relating, mindfulness and leadership skills, Buddhist and Taoist philosophies within Contact Improvisation (CI) and Authentic Movement (AM) for creating an environment for transformation and healing.

Our mission is to train new facilitators to spread Contact Beyond Contact dance practice to the whole world for authentic human connection; for individual, relationship and group healing.

Our vision is to establish conscious dance practice as a profound practice for human connection, healing and human evolution.

During the seven days of training, you will receive and learn:

• Embodiment in dance, movement, contact improvisation in solo and group work as well as embodied practice of chi gong for personal and group practice.
• Training in Embodied Leadership in facilitation and holding space.
• Four interpersonal behavior values for building constructive relationships; personal and in career.
• Empowerment and confidence in who you are to share your gifts to the world.
• Contact Improvisation integrating energy work, foundational skills.
• Experience in leading opening and closing rituals for specific purposes of your event.
• Artistic and technical skills in creating music playlists that can create transformative healing journeys to your participants.
• A manual during the course, a certificate and one private one-to-one online Leadership Training after the course ends.
• A support after your certification for establishing yourself as independent professional.
• Be a part in our online Contact Beyond Contact | FTC Private Group in which you will always have support from the facilitators and other peers.
• Profound tools, insights and tips in marketing, public relations and how to create a community that can support your work.
• Professional photoshoot with which you can begin marketing your event right away.
• Be able to assist or participate in other CBC | FTC for free (subject to availability).

Vangelis Legakis

Van is an international Dance Artist, Choreographer and Producer leading educational and cultural art and healing projects across the world for over ten years. He is a yoga and chi gong – Mantak Chia – accredited practitioner and therapist of different modalities – Craniosacral, Thai and Tsi Nei Tsang Massage, Deep Tissue and Holistic Massage, Neuroskeletal Re-Alignemnt Therapy, Reiki I, II and Master’s Level, Reflexology, and Cosmic Healing Chi Gong. Legakis holds a BA (Hons) Dance Theatre (2006) and MA Choreography (2007) from Trinity Laban (London, UK) and a Masters of Buddhist Studies from Hong Kong University (2015). He is currently undertaking a PhD research at the VCA Melbourne University focusing on Embodiment and Mindfulness within dance, performance and improvisation.

Legakis having two distinctive paths in his life, one of dance and choreography, and the other of healing and spirituality, has formed the philosophy Embodied Unity which is an integration of diverse Dance Languages, Yoga and Chi Gong, Meditation and Mindfulness. Dance is a therapeutic practice as much as it is a spiritual practice too. Van believes that through dance we can heal ourselves and reach higher states of spiritual awakening so as to improve the living standards and relationships we build in our life.

He is the founder and artistic director of Unity Space and The Van – L Dance Company, under which he spreads interdisciplinary dance and healing festivals, projects and workshops.

Tara Li

Tara is a dedicated Conscious Dance Facilitator, Authentic Relating teacher and a DJ . Since 2015, she has established her work in Bali, Ubud where she has created several successful long term weekly events, such as Deepdive Ecstatic Dance, Dissolve-Intuitive contact dance journey, and Authentic relating circles. She is passionate about exploring and creating human connections through the wisdom of the body. She has many years of experience in facilitating Authentic Relating, shamanism, voice, improvisation theater and Tantra to support people to connect deeply with their core energy and authentic movement. She is renowned for her refined ear and impeccable taste in music as a DJ, and over many years of facilitation and practice she has developed a fine-tuned energetic sensitivity in navigating group dynamics in her facilitation.
