Headless Reggae

A continued exploration of my experience being a woman in the arts and the perception of female sexuality.

Choreographed by Jaala Jensen Dancers: Emily Shoesmith and Jaala Jensen (Duet in Melbourne) | Solo in Sydney)

During R&D, I would like to begin developing a new idea exploring a range of different theories and concepts surrounding the human psyche. The human psyche is the totality of the human mind that helps us navigate through life. Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory of personality states that the three levels of our personalities are the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, and the unconscious mind. I would like to spend this time researching these theories in a movement context and create a work from that research. I would explore these ideas using dance as the primary medium, with some explorations of film involved.
