Vangelis Legakis (GR)

Embodied Unity – Flying Low, Passing Through, Contact Improvisation, Qigong & Yoga

Vangelis is an international Dance Artist, Choreographer, Producer and Therapist. He has been leading educational, cultural, arts and healing projects across the world for over 17 years. He studied BA (Hons) Dance Theatre and MA Choreography at Trinity Laban (London, UK) and thereafter furthered his studies by acquiring a Masters in Buddhist Studies from the Hong Kong University. 

He is a yoga and qigong accredited practitioner and a therapist of different modalities (Craniosacral, Thai and Tsi Nei Tsang Massage, Deep Tissue and Holistic Massage, Neuroskeletal Re-Alignment Therapy, Reiki I, II and Master’s Level, Reflexology, and Cosmic Healing Qigong). 

Legakis, having two distinctive paths in his life, the one of dance and choreography, and the other of healing and spirituality, has formed the philosophy Embodied Unity and the practices Contact Beyond Contact and Gliding Space. Embodied Unity is an integration of diverse Dance Languages, Yoga and QiGong, Meditation and Mindfulness. This integration is intended to enhance dance education, performance, dance technique and the choreographic process, and as a whole, improve the living standards and relationships we build in our lives.

Vangelis is the founder and artistic director of Unity Space and The Van – L Dance Company, under which he spreads interdisciplinary art and healing festivals, projects and workshops.

Contemporary Dance & Performance

Taller de danza contemporánea e improvisación de movimiento abre el espacio para explorarse y encontrarse a unx mismx en el movimiento, parte con habitar el propio cuerpo geográfico y su fisicalidad en interacción de forma inherente con el espacio y nosotrxs que conformamos y habitamos esta danza colectiva.

Para ello , tendremos a disposición la transmisión de herramientas que permitan la exploración y el juego del movimiento , como la ejecución de mecánicas simples

inspiradas en técnicas de danza contemporánea, composición coreográfica instantánea , ejercicios de

improvisación en colectivo y el florecimiento de estados por medio del mundo imaginario.

Bailarina, performer, productora y terapeuta holística. Egresada de la licenciatura en danza contemporánea en la Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Mty , México (2007-2012) con estudios del Programa de Especialización en Teatro Visual- Danza en la Post Escuela KiM Kosmos in Movement , Chile (2015). He colaborado como intérprete creativa en varias compañías de danza y teatro en México y el extranjero . Actualmente estudio el posgrado en Bioneuroemoción© , Enric Corbera Institute y exploro en la co- creación de proyectos interdisciplinarios y producción de eventos de danza en Mazunte, Oaxaca.

CI Explorations

Contemporary dance & Somatic Improvisation

The perception of physicality, the potential relationship that exists between attention and sensations to dive internally.

How do we become more permeable to physical forces, relationships with others, and space?

Inhabiting and enabling us towards the new, unknown and spontaneous, allowing ourselves to be moved, perhaps, by a greater force.

In this workshop we will use improvisation scores in order to develop our explorations in relation to others and space.

From Argentina. Body and movement researcher, dancer of contact improvisation for some years, he has been part of the contemporary dance company Otux, Chile. He has produced events focused on the dissemination of the practice of c.i. sharing classes in some locations in Chile, Argentina , Uruguay, Mexico and United States.
